HON CEDARTOWN MANUFACTURING PLANT HONORED WITH “INDUSTRY OF THE YEAR” AWARD
(CEDARTOWN, Ga. – MAY 28, 2013) -- The HON Company’s Cedartown, Georgia manufacturing facility is proud to be the first ever recipient of the Polk County “Industry of the Year” award. The award was presented by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce at an Industry Appreciation Breakfast in April. The award recognizes a local business for its outstanding positive impact on the Polk County community.
HON’s Cedartown facility opened in 1969 and has been a strongly supported by the Polk County community during its forty-four years of operation. “Our members are highly engaged in both our workplace and our community and are focused on driving continuous improvement in everything they do.” explained Todd Murphy, Vice President of Manufacturing at HNI Corporation, HON’s parent company, “It is an honor to receive this award which recognizes those contributions and HON’s impact on Polk County.”
The HON Company’s corporate philosophy stresses the need for the business to operate as a responsible corporate citizen. Last year, HON members participated in a wide range of community activities including donating canned goods to local food pantries, distributing toys for ‘Toys for Tots’ and hosting a charitable HON Golf Classic. Committed to engaging with the local community, The HON Company strives to better the communities their members live and work in. As Murphy states, “We are a proud Polk County Chamber member and look forward to celebrating our 45th anniversary in Polk County next year.”
