Did you ever think an office chair would be on someone’s holiday wish list?
In the past, it would’ve seemed odd, but...2020. And, it beats another set of pots and pans. Or Christmas socks.
Our kitchen tables have become workstations, our living room couches have doubled as brainstorm areas, and unused nooks have turned into places where maybe a desk could fit.
This season, consider a gift for you or someone else that helps fill a need. Supportive, comfortable seating is not just a luxury for better work—it’s a requirement.
Luckily, good office chairs don’t have to be expensive. At HON, we’ve worked hard to develop products that are high quality, easy to assemble and ergonomic for the work day.
Better posture, lumbar support and productivity...these are all benefits of a good chair. You won’t get them from your bar stool or maybe-kind-of-comfortable kitchen chair (something you may have already discovered). Finding an office chair that looks great at home is a priority for many, too.
“The chair is something you’re sitting in many hours per day, and comfort and ergonomics are key in making sure you’re efficient in your work, and pain-free in the long term,” said Blaine Booth, Senior Manager, Merchandising for The HON Company.
Right now, home is where the heart office is.
Because of that, many Americans are taking on renovations and larger projects with the home office in mind. After all, we might be here a while.
And when it comes to the home office, it’s not only about chairs, but also storage and accessories. There are endless possibilities for thoughtful gift buying, because you’ll be giving something that offers more comfort and efficiency.
Other office features that make great gifts? Monitor arms that keep you positioned forward and at a proper level, or a plastic chair mat that allows you to move around easily without putting force on your lower body. (It’s low-cost and may help preserve your carpet or hardwoods. Win-win.)
If you’re not a furniture expert, don’t worry. It’s easier than you think to shop like one.
Here are a few helpful tips to get started:
Chairs: Comfort is Priority No. 1, so look for a chair with a comfortable seat and adjustment capabilities. Next, consider the aesthetic if you’d like to match your home’s decor. Finally, consider easy assembly; the person you’re buying for doesn’t want to spend a ton of time putting a new chair together. If you’re stuck or need more information, we recommend contacting your local dealership for help (and online reviews are always useful, too!).
Desks: Ideally, a new desk will coordinate with the solutions you have in your home today, but ease of install is also a consideration: if you’re in a high-rise apartment or a heavily populated area, you may not have a full toolbox. Assembly should be simple. Check out our Cozy desk: we send a screwdriver along with it, and it takes minutes to put together.
Storage: Storage should fit your preferred storage “style.” Are you a “piler” or a “filer”? Do you prefer digital storage or physical storage? We have multiple solutions that can help you (or someone else) get organized.
Eight months ago, you probably weren’t thinking about the holidays – and it’s even less likely you were shopping for a home office chair. While 2020 has been full of surprises, we think everyone will love a workspace that feels like, well, home.
