THE HON COMPANY TO EXPAND POPULAR FLOCK™ COLLABORATIVE SOLUTIONS WITH NEW MODELS AND DESIGN OPTIONS
(CHICAGO, IL – JUNE 10, 2013) – In response to customer requests and market needs for collaborative workplace furnishings, The HON Company is expanding its popular line of Flock™ Collaborative Solutions. New elements and design options will be added to the Flock line of tables, seating, ottomans and lighting in the fourth quarter of 2013.
“We’re adding additional soft seating, an alternative stool and lower tables to the Flock collection as well as new base and leg options for existing tables, seating and ottomans,” said Mark Roumfort, vice president of product design and development at HON. “Customer feedback is central to everything we do, and we continually look for ways to enhance our office furniture products. Flock was designed to be flexible, comfortable and collaborative. The new offerings will allow businesses even more options when creating environments that appeal to changing business practices and worker preferences.”
Flock — which launched in December 2012 — is being used in welcoming centers, nooks and other community areas where people migrate for collaboration. The collection is unlike any other product in The HON Company portfolio and offers midmarket design options that support the collaborative workplace. Flock will be on display at NeoCon 2013 in HON’s Chicago Merchandise Mart Showroom, #1130.

Promotes ‘Active Sitting’
Flock was designed by leading industrial designer and commercial furnishings expert Brian Kane, who sought to create comfortable furnishings for a collaborative setting that allow “active sitting” and dynamic user togetherness rather than passive lounging that can inhibit interaction.
“Flock is designed to keep users connected to one another as well as to their traditional workspaces,” explained Kane. “If one prefers to perch and type, if a duo wants to corral two ottomans and sit to review a report, or if a team needs furniture for a roundtable discussion — Flock provides a solution, no matter where and how people want to work. It continually invents, and reinvents, new ways to help achieve collaboration.”

Versatility Equals Productivity
Every element in Flock was designed for cross-functionality, allowing users to mix and match pieces to fit virtually endless spaces and needs. For instance, end chairs — with left or right arm options — can be used on their own, in tandem with their opposites to create a loveseat, or with an armless lounge chair to form a sofa. Flock tables contribute vertical dimension, and illumination is provided by the thoughtfully added floor lamp. “The lamp serves as a beacon, drawing users to the space — it signals the collection’s ‘welcome’ within the work environment,” Kane said. “In terms of functionality, the foot switch control is intuitive, easily accessible.”
